Dickens on the Strand
When my husband Greg and our friend, Doris, went to Galveston’s Dickens on the Strand, Greg and I had not eaten breakfast yet. We arrived around 10:45 a.m. and were very hungry.
Food Vendors
The Dickens event is always held the first weekend in December. There are many vendors including ones that sell food like turkey legs, fried Oreo cookies, and funnel cakes that smell so good especially when you’re ravenous.
We walked down Strand Street, referred to as “The Strand” where the event is held in Galveston. Stopping along the way to watch live entertainment, we became distracted from our hunger pangs.
Outdoor Restaurant with Christmas Choir
Next we discovered the perfect spot to eat, a restaurant with outdoor seating next to a stage where we listened to a choir singing Christmas carols and a handbell choir.
Hamburger and Egg

Part of Christmas season fun is going to events with friends and seeing cousins and other relatives at get-togethers. It’s a time when we give in to our family-favorite foods.
We tend to forget about the extra pounds we’re gaining from all the comfort food – until January quickly rolls around.
